Graeme Lee’s wait for his first win as Moors boss continued on Saturday as he saw his side frustrated by a resolute display from Peterborough Sports at The Brewery Field.
Moors had the better of the chances during a hard-fought encounter with The Turbines, but they could not find the all-important breakthrough and had to make do with a point.
Lee handed starts to new loan signings Evan Khouri and Mika Ndjoli, while Donald Chimalilo was handed his first start since his switch from Marske United last month.
And Chimalilo could have celebrated his first goal on 17 minutes only to be denied by a linesman’s flag. Corey McKeown – restored to the starting eleven – cut inside dangerously from the left to unload a powerful shot which was parried to Ndjoli and when he shot was blocked, Chimalilo converted but was ruled offside.
Moors kept on toiling in the windy conditions and knocked the ball around well at times, without further testing Peterborough Sports’ keeper Peter Crooks.
The visitors could have stolen in front in the early stages of the second half when Michael Gash escaped down the right to set up Josh McCammon, but his low drive was well kept out by Moors keeper James Montgomery.
Khouri came close to opening the scoring when his cross took a deflection and looped just beyond the far post as Moors continued to search for the elusive goal.
And the home crowd thought it had arrived on 73 minutes when the dangerous Chimalilo again plotted a route inside from the left but this time his curling shot scraped the far post on its way wide.
Moors at least put a point on the board as the final whistle sounded, which gives them something to build on as they head for a midweek encounter at Southport.
